Groovetown Express

We are looking for a female singer and it would be great (but not required) if that singer also played guitar (acoustic or electric).

This is a very capable, talented and fun band consisting of four guys who are on a mission to play great music while keeping everything fun and casual. We are all in our 50s (not a requirement) with families, careers and life going on. We are not aiming for touring and/or stardom (but we do strive to play well). We play about once a week and are not opposed to the idea of playing a few local gigs but our main focus is to play music together while having fun and encouraging each other. We have our own practice spaces, one in Vancouver and one in Richmond.

We enjoy way more types of music than we have time to play but to help you get an idea of what we are up to this is what you need to know: we love Funk, Blues, Classic Rock, R&B (who doesn't love Motown!). We would likely never play Punk, Metal or Rap. We currently play music from CCR, Beatles, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Steely Dan, Electric Light Orchestra, Stones, The Doors, Santana, Chuck Berry, Steve Miller Band, Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Delbert McClinton, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, BB King, Doobie Brothers, etc. We even go into the jazz/funk zone with Larry Carlton, Cannonball Adderley, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Lou Donaldson's Alligator Boogaloo, etc.

Members Of Band

We are four fun loving, advanced level musicians; guitar, bass, keyboard and drums.

It turns out that there is a great deal of musical talent and playing experience shared among us, though this was not a requirement at the outset. If you like to laugh and have a good sense of humour then you will enjoy us. If you sing/play excellently, hallelujah, if you are rusty or are just working you way up to a more advanced singing / playing level then you would likely be at home with us.

We have got it all; PAs, amps, speakers, mixers, mics, instruments (doubles and triples of those LOL), recording equipment, etc. The only thing we are missing (other than a singer) is a castle big enough to put all of our stuff in! ... but since we are keeping it casual the whole "castle" thing is not a priority ... really, we don't need another lawn to cut, moat to fill or draw bridge to repair ... we would rather make music and have fun! ;-)
