ABOUT

About The Johnson Brothers
Brett and Trent Johnson are third generation country music performers that have seen their careers on the rise over the past few years. The Maple Ridge teens are the grandsons of CCMA Hall Of Fame member Elmer Tippe and the nephews of BCCMA multi-award winner Rick Tippe. With a pedigree like theirs, you could say that The Johnson Brothers were born with "Country music in their viens!". Brett is the lead vocalist and plays guitar, fiddle and mandolin. His energatic style on stage is great fun to watch and he always delivers an upbeat performance. Brett is also a songwriter and has composed many songs that the band performs. Brett was born in Vancouver, BC on January 12, 1987 but has lived in Maple Ridge, BC all of his life. His earliest musical influence was his grandfather whom Brett idolized. Whenever Elmer got out the fiddle, Brett was right by his side wanting to help with the bow. At the age of three Brett got his first fiddle and started working on his dream of being able to play "The Orange Blossom Special" just like his Papa. Brett took music lessons from Roy Hatchard and Sheila McDonald and of course, Papa. Brett made his first stage appearance with Elmer at the age of eight and he was hooked. He has since made many appearances with Elmer at a number of events and showcases. Besides music, Brett enjoys sports and played minor baseball as a pitcher for 10 years. Brett continues to write, play and follow his dream of a career in music. Trent is an accomplished drummer and provides a solid, driving rhythm for the band. Trent also plays guitar and piano and recently has added vocals. Trent was born in Vancouver on May 3, 1989 and like his brother has lived in Maple Ridge ever since. Trent has always been the energetic one of the family. From the day he was born he was never one to sit still. Trent was also exposed to music from birth and his natural desire to move and hit things led him to the drums. He got his first drum kit when he was five years-old and has been a student of Gary Pfeifer, Chris Meister and Ron Briggs. Trent made his first stage appearance on drums with his brother and Elmer when he was eleven. Trent has worked hard at perfecting his craft and enjoys working with other entertainers. He has drummed for Nikki Werner, Chelsea Hardman, Kenny Buston, Rocky Swanson, Aimee Pettersen and Jerry Yuzon, to name a few. Trent was also the drummer with the house band for 2 years at the now defunct Maple Ridge Hotel Sunday Jam. Sports was also natural energy release for Trent and as a youngster he tried his skill at hockey, soccer, baseball and basketball but it was the game of football that really grabbed him. He has played for the Meadowridge Knights for the past nine years and has excelled at many positions. Trent was selected to the Valley Community Football League All-Star team at defensive end in 2004 and 2007. Always smiling, Trent continues to enjoy entertaining and performing whenever and wherever he can. Trent is an endorsee for Pearl drums. Along with their original songs, The Johnson Brothers musical repertoire ranges from the traditional sounds of Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings to the contemporary music of Toby Keith, Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney with a few old Charlie Daniels fiddle tune thrown on for fun. The last four years have been very exciting for the boys. They have been in studio recording with plans to release an album of original songs. They have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with The Good Brothers, Rick Tippe, Aaron Pritchett, Kenny Hess, Ken McCoy, Brent Lee, Rocky Swanson and many others. They have also had the opportunity to perform at many prestigious events including Merritt Mountain Music Festival, BCCMA Awards Show, CCMA Stampede Showcase, Canadian Country Legends Showcase, Cameo Music Festival, Keepin' Country Alive II and The Merritt Walk Of Stars CMT Weekend. The Johnson Brothers have also been nominated for BCCMA Group of the Year, Gaylord Wood Memorial and Ray McAuley Memorial Horizon awards. Well recieved wherever they have performed, The Johnson Brothers look forward to taking their show to as many country music fans as possible in 2008.
