Looking for Players to Form a Cover Band Sept. 2/08

Not a pro / money gig (been there, done that) – just a good party / events band – to have fun playing and get out and about. But no old clichés, no creepy wandering jams, no single genres, no 12-bar blues. I'd guess you'd call it eclectic covers – from 60's British to Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Lyle Lovett to Bare Naked Ladies, Tom Petty to The Allman Brothers, George Benson to Travelling Wilburys. Paul McCartney to Elvis Costello, Billy Joel to Kate Bush to Talking Heads, etc. If good original material presents itself that would be interesting as well.

Me: 50ish electric & acoustic guitar player -- medium chops, can sing background, very good ear, good at figuring out tunes and arrangements, good equipment, very organized and willing to work for a good sound. Flexible schedule. Understand technology very well. Can find gigs / appearances if / when we want them. Located in west-end Halifax.

You: • play your instrument reasonably well • have decent gear and the means to get it from point A to point B • able to play (and like) various kinds of music • able to rehearse a full afternoon and / or evening per week • dependable and organized • willing to work for a good sound • ideally, can sing as well as play (lead or background vocal) • have an MP3 player or computer for song files • attitude / approach / enthusiasm is more important than age, but 30 & over non-smokers preferred
• not necessary to read music • if you have a good rehearsal space that’s a bonus

LOOKING FOR: Guitar (electric & acoustic), Bass, E-Drums, Keyboard, Male Lead Vocal
(multi-instrumental is good; if you can sing lead AND also play an instrument that's a real bonus)
