Called “One of the Top 30 Local Canadian Metal Acts of All Time”, Band Against Humanity has brought their unique twist of melody to heavy music since 2016. Having their genesis in Mississauga, Ontario, the group met at Metalworks Institute of Sound and Technology. They have since self-produced all of their material, continue to hone their craft, and spread their music to stages everywhere.

“We just make the music that we want to hear and play” says Jake Arthur, guitarist and noisemaker. Drawing inspiration from a myriad of influences, their diverse sound has an emphasis on melody that dovetails with the heavy elements of metal and hardcore. Producing all their material entirely on their own, they push the boundaries of both worlds.

Guitarist Luis Biosca is a large component of the BAH sound. Not only proficient on the instrument, he also writes the majority of the material. Along with group vocalist Mike Symons, they craft the lyrics to complete the Band Against Humanity sound together.

From their backyard, to The Horseshoe Tavern, to The Opera House, the group has been performing locally for the last 5 years, and not without it’s highs, lows, and LOWERS. In this span, they poured their hearts into the debut EP, Brother, the culmination of the early days and the telling of the first chapter of their story. Produced by Biosca, the group ventured out to their drummer’s home studio and tracked all the material across a number of sessions from January to March of 2018. The first single from the EP was Black Sheep, a good representation of what makes up the band’s sound: big riffs, bigger melodies, crushing breakdowns, and vocals from all members of the band. Humanity, another stand out track, was the first of it’s kind of have the staple larger than life chorus.

Fast forward to 2021, with the three release of their newest single: Distance, Divided. The song’s music video will be the groups first, also produced independently. Listen on your preferred streaming service!
