Brand new garage / punk / rock band The Holly Golightlys is seeking a female guitarist, a female bassist and a female drummer. Please note that this is a brand new project being built from the ground up and songs will mostly be written together in an organic way as a band. So right now there is nothing for you to hear.
This band will be playing raw, powerful punk rock music for people (and for us) to rock out, drink, and sweat to. Our motto is: "We drink and play. You drink and dance." Think along the lines of a nice blend of Iggy And The Stooges, The Damned, U.K. Subs, Dead Boys, Misfits, Fear, etc. Punk rock, but with a wider spectrum of possibilities than "oi oi oi" punk. It's nothing too complicated.
Here is a short list of assets and abilities in addition to knowing your instrument which would be good for you to possess. You don't need all of them, but some of them are mandatory:
- A true passion for music / art and a full understanding that this is what you want to do with your life.
- A certain amount of rock and roll attitude (not too little but not too much).
- Must like alcohol but have no drug dependencies (again, not too little but not too much).
- Songwriting.
- Harmony / backing vocals.
- Live and / or tour experience.
- Clean criminal record and a valid passport so that crossing borders is not an issue.
- Good moral character.
- Can contribute to the business side of the band (help with booking / promoting the band and it's events, funding merchandise / materials / studio rent, etc.).
- Can handle when people don't like your music, your band, or yourself (because everyone has an opinion).
- Can listen to suggestions about their parts in songs and are open to experimentation (can handle being Produced without taking it as an insult).
- Strength and conviction to stand by your beliefs and make it through suffering in order to achieve your goals.
It would not take long at all for this band to start hitting stages with the right people in place. I already have a fully equipped, great sounding downtown monthly rehearsal studio. I just need the right people here with me.
