ABOUT

Me: I'm a 35-year veteran performer and composer with a degree piano performance and composition, a long background in choir directing, and an even longer background in studio and stage work on guitar. I grew up in the bar scene in Thunder Bay, and covered everything from folk and country to classic rock and metal. I've played in tribute bands, cover bands, pit bands, and wedding bands, and I've played on more demo recordings than I care to remember.

In the last 10 years or so I've seriously cut back on my stage time and have been focusing on being one of those grown ups with a "real job" and a family. I have, however, launched a YouTube channel that's doing pretty well demoing guitars and guitar tech products, as well as doing song reviews (not as many as I'd like...I should get those rolling again). You can follow that on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, all @woodsnstrings. I also started a COVID business, doing setups and repairs on guitars and rigging pedalboards.

Over the last year, I've been dipping my toes back in the waters of playing with other musicians. I don't have a big network in the Durham Region for music, as that's not what I've been known for here, but I have met a few players through my business and it's getting me a little fired up to start thinking about playing some more.

I'm open to any and all invites to jam, record, collab, whatever!!

OK, so here's what I'm looking for:

"Hangman's Holiday"

One of my clients is a great country and classic rock singer, and a solid acoustic and rhythm player. We're thinking about starting up a band with some country, blues, and classic rock vibes, and we'd love to get hold of a female singer to handle some of the higher stuff and some duets. On that list we have songs like:

Gettin' Over Him Guy (Lauren Alaina, Jon Pardi)
Kerosene (Miranda Lambert)
Tush (ZZ Top)
Pride and Joy (Stevie Ray Vaughan)
Hard to Handle (The Black Crowes)
Can't Do Without Me (Chayce Beckham, Lindsay Ell)
...and yeah, obviously Shania.

To do this one up, we're also looking for bass guitar and drums. If you're a singer who ALSO plays rhythm or bass, that's even better!

So this project is looking for:

Vocals (female)
Bass Guitar
Drums

That's the key lineup. Let me know if you're interested and let's see if there's a fit!

I also have a YouTube channel (@woodsnstrings) where I demo guitars; as a result, my collection of imports has grown a lot in the last couple of years.
