Hey there, I'm looking for people to put a band together.
I have experience playing in alt rock / punk / metal bands.
Been playing guitar for 7 years. Been playing in bands for 6.
Right now I consider myself more of a rhythm player, but I don't really believe in all that rhythm/lead crap, that is why I'm always working on developing my skills in order to become a better player all around.
I've had my share of experience on everything from putting the band together, looking for shows, making records, shooting videos and opening for a few well known international bands. Just not in the Toronto area.
Don't exactly know what I'm looking for. Basically a few people to put a band together. Initially for fun, but eventually my goal is take it to the next level, so I'd like to play with people who are as committed as I am.
In terms of a music genre, right now I'd be open to a lot of stuff, but basically I think rock would suit me better. I wouldn't mind at all playing other kinds of music. If I like it, I'll play it. If the music's good, tags don't really matter.
If you read through and think it would be a good idea to have a chat, don't hesitate to contact me, who knows what might happen.

Influences
Wouldn't know how to answer this question properly.
right now on my mp3 player there's the beatles, rush, mute math, nile and meshuggah.
let's see if I can make things a little bit clearer.
Foo fighters is one of my all time favorite bands. the offspring also is one of my favorite bands, or it used to be for a while.
lately I've been very much into unearth. Machine Head (Their new album is great but I think calling it "the master of puppets of this generation" is a bit much)
I also like
heavy stuff like slayer, old metallica, megadeth, pantera, opeth, in flames, arch enemy, mastodon, lamb of god.
few bands that aren't so heavy like mute math, a little bit of the ataris, cky, deftones
punk / post harcore stuff like strung out, thrice, atreyu (first record), bad religion, nofx, rancid, the ramones, green day, blink 182.
a little bit of reggae/ska in the veins of sublime, long beach dub allstars, rx bandits, matisyahu, voodoo glow skulls
there's always the classics like ac/dc, the stones,
and many, many more
EQUIPMENT
I own a few items that might be considered pro recording/touring equipment, like guitars, amps, effects.
One of my guitars is a drop-A 7 strings (the one on the picture below) so I enjoy really low tunings , but at the same time I really enjoy standard D, which is just one step lower.
With my setup, I could go on tour or to the studio without problems.
