SOCAL based rock band, PICKAXE, has started to explode in the Southern California area of the U.S. In addition to recently playing the many legendary clubs including a sold out show at “The Key Club" in Los Angeles, the band's new songs “Bang Bang Barretta, Tooth and Claw, and This is PICKAXE can all be heard on their debut EP, "The Best of Us Didn’t Make It Out Alive." Released early 2009, which has turned out to be a fan favorite. PICKAXE continues to receive rave reviews from critics and Fans from across the State.
Since 2006, PICKAXE, has been writing and perfecting their sound. Because the band writes unique styles of melodies, and strong rhythms, PICKAXE, has created a sound that is consistently commercial yet distinctly diverse. PICKAXE's unique style is a direct result from their influences that range from, Alice In Chains, Corrosion of Conformity, Queens Of The Stone Age, Clutch, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster and Mastodon. These styles and influences can be heard in the new songs, "Fueled by Whiskey" "Smash and Grab", " 12 Gauge Champion " and the upcoming rock epic "The Conquerer". All which can be heard on their upcoming full length release.
PICKAXE's, solid songs are only part of their overall allure. The band's live show is what really brings out the fans and keeps them coming back. One can actually say, the live show is just as powerful as the bands that influence them, if not more. That say's a lot with many bands releasing material that they cannot produce live. PICKAXE prides themselves on making the live experience, one you will not forget. This band is primed and ready for the exciting future that involves touring, writing, working with other professional artists and finding the right representation to take this band to the next level. PICKAXE will start recording their full length release this summer. All the members multi-task by holding down full time jobs, providing for their families, and making sweet rock n’ roll.
