We live in an age where the monster recording studios our musical heroes recorded in are closing their doors at an alarming rate. The 2" decks and SSL 4000s of the past are being replaced by small pro tools rigs in houses, rehearsal spaces and bedrooms worldwide. This has liberated the independent artist to record their own music and to draw an audience online at very little cost. The days of selling a huge volume of physical media, i.e cds, vinyl, has gone and recorded music is now primarily a tool for attracting fans to your live performances, or for finding publishing deals through film and gaming.

While I have not worked with any musical giants, I have put thousands of hours into recording bands in a wide variety of spaces, from high end recording studios, to 150 year old warehouses. I understand the DIY ethic and can help you help yourself.

Audio Production Services:

Full Production (Record, Mix, Master)

I will help you find the best space possible to record your music. Whether it be in my personal recording space, or in your rehearsal room or that little cottage that gets down to -40 in the winter. Recording is about feeling. Mojo matters, and all the acoustic treatment in the world won't give you that. I will work with you to ensure we honour your objectives ? Want to cut it all live off the floor, no problem! Want to make the tightest metal or hip hop record, ever made ? No problem.
I will make sure we have the right mics, preamps, outboard and software to bring the project to life.

Mixing:

You just spent three years recording your band's epic masterwork and you have slaved for weeks trying to make it all sound the way it does in your head, but you can't. Simply send me your individual multitracks and I will work to give you the style of mix you want. By completing a prospective artist sheet, I will ensure we get you the airy vocals, machine gun snare or thousand pound marshmallow kick drum you want.
Once I have finished the mixes, I will then give you three sperate opportunities to make requests. This could be for balance changes, effect changes or overall EQ changes.

Mastering:

Mastering is the last link in the chain, where the overall perceived volume of your record is determined, and the EQ is tweaked to ensure your record sounds great on everything from a 20,000 Watt PA to ipod headphones. Through use of subtle compression, EQ, limiting and automation, this is where we get your tracks to pop like that radio hit you secretly love.

Standard Rates:

I will work to ensure we come to a reasonable price that matches your budget, while still ensuring I keep the lights on!

Full Production:

This includes pre-production, recording, editing, mixing and mastering. You get a finished record in one place.
$200/day (up to 10 hours) *Additional time at $30/hour*

Mixing:

*Mastering is Included with all Mix projects*
*Editing is not included, this is for mixing of finished tracks*

1-3 Songs: $150/Song

4-6 Songs :$125/Song

7+ Songs: $100/Song

Mastering:

*In order to offer you the best final master, please keep master bus compression and limiting to an absolute minimum*
Please forward me all tracks in the highest resolution the project was tracked in, i.e 24 Bit, 96Khz in .wav or AIFF format.

Live on Location Recording:

$500/first day, $250/day for subsequent days
