I'm interested in getting a band together playing roots country and a bit of rockabilly, The sound of the mid fifties - when "Hillbilly" and Blues existed side by side. Hank Williams, Marty Robbins, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash...and some of the early Sun Records stuff. I know it isn't mainstream these days but I don't want to do the same old thing that everyone else is doing...ie: Modern "country", blues, and classic rock. Everyone seems to be "Jobbing" these days. I prefer working with a regular band so you can really get to mesh. I don't know where exactly a market for this kind of thing might be...but I suspect it might be more the festival circuit rather than the few bars that are still going. I listen to everything from Classic rock to jazz...but I was raised on country. (My parents were both musicians...my Dad still is) I played country in bars for twenty years, but I haven' had my own band in a decade. I've just been doing the odd guest appearance. Currently working on a CD of original and covers of roots country and rockabilly.
