ABOUT

Creating music was nothing but innate to Jamaican musician Jae. His musical career began at the tender age of 11 when he recorded his first song, "Lights, Camera, Action" which had sparked his love for writing and making music. This Jamaican born singer/rapper's grew up listening to classic jazz, reggae and hip-hop; which he describes as "some of the greatest influences in his music, even today".

While in high school, his music began to lean toward hip hop as a result of the influence of the hip hop culture when "hardcore, gangster rap was like chocolate and roses for the ladies" Jae says. At that time, his stage name was "Bonafide", his lyrics were bold, explicit and aggressive but still very infectious. Jae saw himself as a gangster rapper and nothing more.

Singing - to him - was somewhat a surprise for the rebellious rapper. But in 2008, Jae gave a spectacular performance at the Jamnesia Sessions - a live music and poetry show held by the Jamnesia Surf Club in Jamaica - in collaboration with "From The Deep". It was here that he discovered that he was blessed with yet another gift; to write and sing R&B. Songs that were purposefully all about falling in love.

Since then, his music has benifited from this newfound style of writing but according to Jae, there is always room for improvement where his work is concerned.
