My friend and I are forming a rock band. Right now it’s just me (songwriter, lead vocals, rhythm guitar) and my friend (songwriter, bassist, backing vocals). He’s from the UK, I’m from here, we’re both in our mid 20s, and we are both crazy about 60s Brit Invasion (Beatles, Kinks, Who, Stones) and 80/90s Britpop/alt rock (Oasis, Blur, Snow Patrol, Verve, Cranberries, Radiohead).
We’ve just gotten together, but before that we were grinding for years on our own and wrote a boatload of songs. We’re very driven and interested in going as far in music as we can. We are looking to begin practicing at least 2-3 times a week as soon as we’ve completed our lineup, start performing live ASAP, record an EP in 6 months, and complete our first album by next summer.
We need both a drummer and a lead guitarist at this point. Both should meet the following qualifications:
- Aged 16 – 28
- Has 5+ years of serious playing experience, ideally some band work
- able to play drum parts for the artists listed above (ie. Oasis, Snow Patrol, Cranberries…), as well as some unique creative abilities and instincts (distinct fills, a distinct sound on the drum kit or guitar)
- Some basic song-writing skills (or even just comfortability critiquing songs by others)
- Personable, reliable, and fun
- Energetic and hard-working, willing to go “all-in” the way that we are.
- Ideally based in White Rock/South Surrey or East Vancouver
Our style doesn’t put crazy technical demands on the drummer or lead guitarist compared to some others so what will really set you apart is your commitment to the band, your mastery of the basics, and your ability to “mesh” with us artistically and personally.
