ABOUT

Brad Tasker has been bashing and smashing anything he could find since he can remember, and has become a testimony to the durability of Tupperware. From those early beginnings to the present, Brad’s energy and total love for what he does is infectious to any audience.

Born in South Africa, Brad moved to Canada when he was only four years old. In his early years, his father instilled a love for music in him- Focusing especially on hard rock, and intense grooving beats. Brad always seemed to gravitate towards the drummer in any performance. After his first live concert- Bryan Adams- at the age of seven, he begged his parents to allow him to play drums, and like most parents, Brad’s mom and dad said: “No,” initially thinking it would be like most things at that age – a phase.

After many years of begging his parents to play, and resorting to banging on pots and pans, Brad continued to develop a driving urge to play the real thing, so he arranged for his sixth grade music teacher to let him play the drums in class, because he was “taking lessons,” (Which he wasn’t really at the time). Brad came home from school that day, explaining to his parents that he had to get drum lessons and a drum kit for school- a cleverly devised plan.

The rest, as they say, is history. Brad’s folks invested in a drum kit and his first lessons, and from the age of twelve, he never looked back. Brad has even played the famous tune: “Blow at High Dow,” (Originally by The Tragically Hip) with the “Sweater Puppets” at Philthy McNasty’s bar/restaurant, comprising of none other than Mike Shotton, from the bands “Von Groove,” and “Boston” fame.

Brad, currently 19 years old, still plays the drums with enviable enthusiasm and is playing in an original band he had the inspiration to create, called “The Bats,” comprising of Alec Elliot, Lucas Lalonde, and Matt Fleming. Not only does Brad drum for the band, but does most of the organizing, and ensures the guys are as enthusiastic as himself, along with keeping everyone on the same page, with business in order. He spends much of his free time planning gigs, and working out playable venues for the band.

Brad recently decided to turn drumming from a hobby to a career, and flew himself all the way to London, England, where he auditioned for Drum Tech Academy, and was inevitably accepted by the school- One of the most respected and established drumming schools in the world. Brad looks forward to continuing his career playing the drums, and writing original music with Bats members, as well as developing his strong talent as a fantastic musician.
